Privacy Policy
Effective August 22, 2026. This policy applies to swwilson.ca and to the Scott William Wilson campaign for Wainfleet Township Council.
Who is responsible
The Scott William Wilson campaign, Wainfleet, Ontario, Canada. Contact: scottwilliamwilson1@gmail.com.
What we collect
- Contact form: your name, email, optional road or hamlet, topic and message.
- Newsletter: your name and email, with your express consent as required by Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).
- Contributions: your name, address, email and contribution amount, as required by the Ontario Municipal Elections Act, 1996. Payment card details are processed by Stripe and are never stored by the campaign.
- Site analytics: anonymized usage data (pages viewed, device type, approximate region). We do not sell or share analytics data.
How we use it
- To reply to your message and, with your permission, to publish your question (never your name) on the Questions page.
- To send campaign updates you have subscribed to. Every email includes an unsubscribe link.
- To comply with the Municipal Elections Act. Contributions over $100 are reported to the Township Clerk with the contributor's name and address, and that filing is a public record.
- To arrange porch visits or lawn signs you have requested.
Who we share it with
Service providers that host the site, process e-transfer payments (your bank and Interac) and send email, each under their own privacy terms; the Township of Wainfleet Clerk as required by law; and no one else. We do not sell personal information.
Retention
Contact and newsletter data is deleted within 90 days after the campaign's final financial filing is accepted, unless you ask sooner. Contribution records are retained for the period required by the Municipal Elections Act.
Your rights
You may ask what information we hold about you, correct it, or ask for its deletion (subject to legal retention requirements) by emailing scottwilliamwilson1@gmail.com. You may unsubscribe from email at any time. If you are not satisfied, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Cookies
The site uses only the cookies necessary for analytics and form protection. No advertising cookies are set.
Changes
Updates to this policy are posted here with a new effective date.
