Why I moved here

Five years ago my family left Burlington for Wainfleet. We wanted Lake Erie, starry skies, peace and tranquility, campfires at night, no traffic jams, authentic farm stands, and a road where you can hear a tractor coming a concession away. We got all of it. I am not running to change what Wainfleet is. I am running because the cost of keeping it this way has been going up faster than anywhere else in Niagara, and nobody has explained why.

What I do for a living

I founded Geek Certified in 2017 and Reel Vision Studios in 2019. I service customers in a variety of industries across Canada and the USA.

As a business owner, I evaluate expenses and make data driven decisions based on the value and outcome. I go through every line item in my accounts payables to find opportunities to save money while ensuring great service. Doing this is hard. The past leadership of Wainfleet took the easy route: to pay the bills, they simply and consistently raised taxes, making Wainfleet one of the highest taxed communities when compared to similar communities in Ontario.

I also teach at McMaster University. I am an AI Instructor at the DeGroote School of Business and I lecture the year 3, year 4 business students and MBA students, and have for the past 18 years. I teach a Micro Credential course on AI and I am a member of the digital lab, where we conduct research on AI tokenization efficiency and GEO trigger mechanisms.

Outside of work

I have played and coached rep and select hockey for most of my life. Coaching teaches you that the team with the best plan on paper still has to skate.

What I heard on your porches

Before building this site I talked with about a hundred residents. The themes were consistent: taxes rising every year with nothing visible to show for it; a fear of dealing with the building department; speeding on roads where children get off school buses; farmers who cannot do anything with land they cannot farm. Every one of those became a page on this site.
